In chemistry, titration is used to determine the unknown concentration of an identified analyte in a sample. It is an important analytical technique as it allows researchers to obtain the precise measurement of the analyte concentrations in solution. Titration is widely used to accurately determine the concentration of a compound of interest in a solution. This finds use in a number of industries including the pharmaceutical, environmental, food, and beverage industries amongst others. For example, titration is used in pharmaceutical analysis to test the purity of synthesized chemical compounds. Titration is also often used in the laboratory to test for buffering activity, determine the mass percent of a solute in a solution, find the molarity of a solution with unknown concentration or determine the degree of purity of a solid.
