What’s the order in which the lock and key model works?

Posted February 3, 2023

Answer

The lock and key model of enzyme-substrate interaction proposes that the active site of the enzyme fits the substrate precisely. First, the active site of an enzyme binds to a substrate, forming an enzyme-substrate complex. The enzyme then triggers a chemical reaction. In the last step, the product or products formed from the chemical reaction are released.
