When should I perform subculture?

Subculture must be performed typically when a cell line is at approximately 80% confluency, to ensure their proper growth and function. It is important to note that the confluency for subculturing cells may fluctuate depending on the cell type, and may have to be optimized. If one is unable to subculture the confluent cells, it may result in reduced mitotic index and subsequent cell death.
