Choosing between PCR and isothermal amplification will depend on your desired application and equipment available. 

PCR (polymerase chain reaction) is the most commonly used nucleic amplification method but it is not practical in all situations. You should use isothermal amplification instead of PCR when you don’t have access to a thermal cycler for diagnostic or point-of-care applications.
