Where are blood cells made?

Posted November 20, 2023

Answer

About 95% of the blood cells are made in the bone marrow, the soft, spongy material found in the middle of the bones body. All blood cells develop from young, immature stem cells through a process called hematopoiesis. As the stem cells develop and mature, they evolve and differentiate into the various types of blood cells.
