Where are free ribosomes located?

Posted January 10, 2023

Answer

Free ribosomes are located in the cytosol. They are suspended in this aqueous medium and are able to move anywhere around the cell. Free ribosomes are non-membranous organelles made up of ribosomal RNA and protein. They synthesize proteins that are released into the cytosol for the cell’s own use.
