Where can nervous tissue be found?

Posted December 22, 2023

Answer

Nervous tissue is found in the spinal cord, brain, and intricate network nerves.

  • The brain is composed of a large network of nervous tissues, including neurons and glial cells. Neurons are responsible for controlling bodily functions and for significant cognitive processes including memory, emotions, and logical thinking. Glial cells are primarily responsible for protecting and supporting neurons by delivering nutrients.
  • Nervous tissue is also present in the spinal cord, which acts as a pathway for transmitting signals between the brain and the rest of the body. The spinal cord has a vital role in sending motor commands from the brain to the muscles and glands. The nervous system has two parts, the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system is made up by the spinal cord and the brain.
  • The peripheral nervous system includes nerves which function throughout the entire body. BIllions of neurons collaborate to form a vast communication network in the body. Each neuron has a specific role. For instance, sensory neurons transmit information gathered from the ears, eyes, nose, skin, and tongue to the brain.
