Why do we need positive control in an experiment?

Posted March 11, 2024

Answer

A positive control is used in experiments to ensure that the experimental setup is capable of producing the expected outcome. It serves as a reference point to verify that the experimental conditions are suitable for detecting the effect one is testing for. Without a positive control, it cannot be determined whether any observed results are due to the experimental manipulation or simply the absence of other factors.
