MycoLight™ Rapid Fluorescence Gram Stain Kits

The MycoLight™ Rapid Fluorescence Gram Stain Kits utilize proprietary fluorescent dyes whose differential uptake and retention reflect structural differences between gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial cell envelopes. gram-positive bacteria, with their thick peptidoglycan layer, retain the fluorescent stain differently than Gram-negative bacteria, which have a thinner peptidoglycan layer surrounded by an outer membrane. This differential staining enables rapid identification of bacterial types in live samples without the fixation requirements of traditional methods.
Key Features
  • One-step staining protocol — simple add-and-read format eliminates multi-step washing procedures
  • Live bacteria compatible — no fixation required, preserving native cell morphology
  • Rapid results — complete staining in minutes versus 15-30 minutes for traditional methods
  • Dual detection capability — compatible with both fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry
  • Clear differentiation — distinct fluorescent signals enable unambiguous Gram classification
  • Superior to crystal violet — fluorescence detection provides enhanced sensitivity and quantification capabilities
