About
Anti-Estradiol antibody
Mouse anti-human, monoclonal IgG1
Estradiol (E2) is an estrogen steroid hormone produced primarily within the follicles of ovaries, but is also produced in the testicles, adrenal glands, breasts and brain. It is the major female sex hormone responsible for the regulation of estrous and menstrual reproductive cycles, and is necessary for female development. It is also produced in males, at considerably lower levels compared to females, as an active metabolic product of testosterone. In clinical biology, measuring serum estradiol levels is used to assess the activity of female ovaries, to detect baseline estrogen in females with menstrual dysfunction, and to detect menopause. Anti-estradiol monoclonal antibodies are highly sensitive for the detection of estradiol immunogens. They can be used for a broad range of immunoassays such as ELISA.
