In humans, immunoglobulin ε heavy chain plays an important role in organismal processes, namely, adaptive immune response. Sequencing of immunoglobulin ε heavy chain has exemplified it contains 5 conserved structural units: Ig-like 1, Ig-like 2, Ig-like 3, Ig-like 4 and Ig-like 5 domain.
