Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, testis-specific is a 45 kDa protein that can be found in the nucleus and cytosol of cells. It is alternatively called Spermatogenic glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase and Spermatogenic cell-specific glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase 2. In Homo sapiens, spermatogenic cell-specific glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase 2 has been associated with critical functions such as glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (NAD+) (phosphorylating) activity, and also, plays a role in the upregulation of glycolytic process. Spermatogenic cell-specific glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase 2 recognizes NADP and NAD, and also, takes part in organismal processes, in particular, glycolytic process and gluconeogenesis.
