Immunoglobulin δ heavy chain is a 65 kDa protein that can be located in the plasma membrane, extracellular space and immunoglobulin complex of cells. Sequencing of immunoglobulin δ heavy chain has exemplified it contains 4 conserved structural units: Ig-like 1, Ig-like 2, Ig-like 3 and Ig-like 4 domain. Immunoglobulin δ heavy chain is thought to be essential to organismal processes, for instance, adaptive immune response and monocyte activation. It is involved in the positive regulation of interleukin-1 β secretion, interleukin-1 secretion and tumor necrosis factor secretion.
