The HI161 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD43, a 95 - 135 kD transmembrane protein commonly located on the surface of plasma cells, thymocytes, neutrophils, myelomas and T cells. In some organisms, CD43 plays a role in the downregulation of cell adhesion, promotes tumor necrosis factor biosynthetic process and acts to negatively regulate T cell proliferation. From a research standpoint, it is of biological interest due to its association with vital macromolecules/ligands such as EZR. CD43 is a fairly uncommon antibody target, with a little more than 5000 publications in the last decade. Even still, CD43 has been widely used in immunology research, frequently serving as a phenotypic marker for differentiating cell types in flow cytometric applications. This antibody was purified through affinity chromatography and conjugated to PE/XFD700 (ex/em = 566/721 nm). XFD700 is manufactured by AAT Bioquest, and it has the same chemical structure of Alexa Fluor® 700 (Alexa Fluor® is the trademark of ThermoFisher). It is compatible with the 561 nm laser and 702/85 nm bandpass filter (for example, as in the Luminex Amnis FlowSight).
