Kinesin-1 heavy chain is a 127 kDa protein that can be expressed in the vesicle, centriolar satellite and microtubule of cells. It is alternatively called ubiquitous kinesin heavy chain and conventional kinesin heavy chain. In humans, kinesin-1 heavy chain has been associated with key functions such as ATPase and microtubule motor activity. It binds to ATP, JUN kinase and microtubule. Sequencing of Kinesin-1 heavy chain has exemplified it contains a primary structural unit, the kinesin motor domain. It takes part in processes such as organismal processes. Kinesin-1 heavy chain aids in membrane potential, and in addition, positively regulates potassium ion transport, protein localization to plasma membrane and vesicle fusion.
