Tubulin β chain is a 58 kda protein that can be located in the cell body, protein-containing complex and cytoplasmic ribonucleoprotein granule of cells. In humans, Tubulin β chain has been associated with important functions such as GTPase and structural molecule activity, and additionally, plays an important role in synapse organization and G2/M transition of mitotic cell cycle, and additionally, recognizes MHC class I protein, ubiquitin protein ligase and protein-containing complex. It has been found to be involved in organismal processes, in particular, natural killer cell mediated cytotoxicity, spindle assembly and cell division. Tubulin β chain is clinically significant because abnormalities in its function have been thought to be involved with diseases such as congenital symmetric circumferentialSkin creases-1 (CSCSC1) and complex cortical dysplasia with other brain malformations6 (CDCBM6). Complex cortical dysplasia with other brain malformations6, an autosomal dominant inheritancedisorder characterized by congenital cerebellar hypoplasia, cortical dysplasia and retinal dysplasia, has especially been of interest to scientists.
