Clathrin heavy chain is a protein with a molecular weight of 187 kDa, expressed in the cytosol, actin cortical patch and clathrin complex of cells. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae (strain ATCC 204508 / S288c), clathrin heavy chain has been closely linked to essential functions such as structural molecule activity. Clathrin heavy chain is an integral part of organismal processes, for example, receptor-mediated endocytosis, intracellular protein transport and Golgi to endosome transport. It binds with clathrin light chain. Clathrin heavy chain has been closely linked to critical functions such as structural molecule activity.
