Protein-tyrosine-phosphatase is a transmembrane protein with a molecular weight of 167 kDa, located in the integral component of membrane of cells. In humans, protein-tyrosine-phosphatase has been associated with essential functions like protein tyrosine phosphatase activity. Sequencing of protein-tyrosine-phosphatase has demonstrated it contains 10 types of conserved structural units: Ig-like, fibronectin type-III, TYRphosphatase2 and tyrosine-protein phosphatase domain.
