Alkaline phosphatase, placental type (alternatively called PLAP-1, Placental alkaline phosphatase 1 or Alkaline phosphatase Regan isozyme) is a transmembrane protein with a molecular weight of 58 kDa, located in the cell surface, plasma membrane and anchored component of membrane of cells. In humans, alkaline phosphatase Regan isozyme is an integral part of organismal processes, for example, dephosphorylation. Alkaline phosphatase Regan isozyme has been associated with important functions such as alkaline phosphatase activity. It recognizes GPI-anchor amidated aspartate, zinc ion and magnesium ion.
