How does the Amplite® Fluorimetric Glutathione GSH/GSSG Ratio assay work? What is the assay actually quantifying?

Amplite® Fluorimetric Glutathione GSH/GSSG Ratio Assay Kit *Green Fluorescence* (Cat# 10056) contains a probe which reacts ONLY with the reduced form of glutathione (ie. GSH) and not with GSSG. By measuring the GSH concentration before reduction and measuring the Total GSH concentration after reduction, users can calculate the GSSG concentration as well as the GSH/GSSG ratio.
