To generate antibodies in mice, should I use intraperitoneal or subcutaneous injection?

Answer

Subcutaneous injections, which are injections between the skin and muscle, and intraperitoneal injections, which are injections into the peritoneal cavity, are both viable options for antibody production in mice. Subcutaneous injections may be easier to administer than intraperitoneal injections, which have higher risk of internal injury. However, antibodies injected subcutaneously will be absorbed slower than if injected intraperitoneally.
