What are the advantages of one-step RT-PCR?

Posted March 4, 2022

Answer

In the one-step RT- PCR technique the reverse transcription (RT) reaction and the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) are combined and performed in a single step using a single tube. There are several advantages to one-step RT-PCR:

  • It has fewer steps and is more time-efficient
  • The results are more consistent
  • Fewer pipetting steps reduces the risk of contamination by extraneous DNA
  • Data reproducibility is better
  • Better for use in high-throughput applications
