What does methylene blue indicate?

Posted August 18, 2021

Answer

Methylene Blue is a cationic stain. It is a redox indicator that indicates the presence of oxidizing agents. In its normal state, methylene blue appears as a dark green odorless powder. In the presence of oxidizing agents, electrons are stripped from the dye. Methylene blue turns blue in its oxidized state, indicating the presence of oxidizing agents.
