What is blocking buffer in IHC?

Blocking buffer is used to prevent nonspecific binding of antibodies to tissue. Blocking should be performed before incubation of the primary antibody. Two commonly used blocking buffers are 1% BSA in PBS or 5% serum from the secondary antibody’s host.
