Where is the cell membrane located?

Posted September 13, 2021

Answer

Cell membranes are located on the outer surfaces of the cells and are responsible for the regulation of what enters or exits the cells. Therefore, the membranes are thin-layered, and their role is to delimit the cell from the surrounding. Additionally, the location of the cell membrane ensures that the toxic substances are eliminated from the cell while at the same time allowing nutrients to enter. The location and composition of cells are influenced by the cell's role or the composition of specific cells. Moreover, highly growing and dividing cells ensure that the membranes are flexible to accommodate the alteration of adjacent cells. Besides, intrinsic proteins facilitate the transportation of substances across the membrane.
