Does RNA splicing occur in prokaryotic cells?

Posted August 18, 2022

Answer

RNA splicing is a mechanism that is unique to eukaryotes. Because of this, RNA splicing rarely occurs in prokaryotic cells. If splicing does occur, it is mainly found on non-coding RNAs like tRNAs.
