How do enzymes achieve specificity?
Posted July 6, 2023

Answer

Enzymes achieve specificity due to the shape of their active site. The active sites of every enzyme have a different shape. The shape of an enzyme’s active site is complementary to a shape of its specific substrate, allowing the substrate to fit perfectly into the enzyme’s active site like a lock and key.
