How do you dissolve BSA powder?

Posted February 13, 2023

Answer

BSA powder is typically dissolved using a weight-by-volume dilution. Here’s how to proceed if you want to make a 1% BSA solution:

  1. Weigh 1 gram BSA powder and pour it into a graduated cylinder
  2. Add water into the cylinder slowly until it reaches the 100 ml mark

This will give you a 1% BSA solution. To make a 10% BSA solution, weigh 1 gram BSA powder and add water into the graduated cylinder, until it reaches the 10 ml mark. To prevent any clumping when dissolving BSA powder, layer the powder on the surface of the liquid, cap the tube and invert it gently until the BSA has dissolved completely. Do not stir the solution.
