What are autosomes?

Answer

Autosomes encompass all of the chromosomes in an organism, except its sex chromosomes. They come as chromosome pairs and are coiled and packed together tightly in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells. Humans have 22 sets of autosomes and they are referred to numerically.
