What are hybrid orbitals?

Posted February 22, 2024

Answer

A hybrid orbital is created through the merging of two or more atomic orbitals. The resulting orbital exhibits a distinct shape and energy level compared to the individual component orbitals that contribute to its formation. The shapes generated are well-suited for bond formation in the directions predicted by the VSEPR model.
