Posted January 9, 2024

Answer

There are various advantages of the pour plate technique. The pour plate technique is a straightforward method which does not require additional tools for inoculation. Pre-solidified agar medium is not required before use. This technique is sensitive enough to detect very low microbial loads. Additionally, it is effective for isolating anaerobic and facultative microorganisms, as well as aerobes. It is versatile and can be applied to various samples including clinical or environmental ones, liquid, or solid. There is also no risk of accidentally damaging the agar surface while inoculating. It also facilitates obtaining distinct colonies from microorganisms, and allowing for the calculation of CFU/mL.
