What are the applications of SBFI?

Posted November 21, 2023

Answer

There are multiple applications of SBFI dye in biology. It is primarily used for measuring the intracellular concentration of sodium. Another application of SBFI is that it is used in neuroscience for studying the cellular behavior of neurons. For example, neurons can be labeled with SBFI and studied in vitro for extended periods of time to observe the changes in sodium levels during different cellular processes. Another application is the use of SBFI in cardiac cells to analyze the indicator compartmentalization of the dye within the cells. In cardiac cells, it can also be used to observe the contraction of heart muscle cells and how its behavior is influenced by the intracellular sodium concentration in voltage-clamped cells.
