What are the characteristics of illumina sequencing technology?

Posted February 9, 2024

Answer

Illumina sequencing technology utilizes the formation of clonal arrays and a reversible terminator method to enable accurate and quick large-scale sequencing. It allows the simultaneous sequencing of millions of DNA fragments in a single run. Additionally, illumina sequencing exhibits highly accurate base-by-base sequencing, effectively removing all errors specific to the sequence. Ilumina also performs parallel sequencing in which the prepared DNA or RNA library is loaded onto the sequencer. The sequencer then reads the nucleotides individually. Illumina is also a short-read sequencing method, with read lengths from 50-300 bp.
