What are the mechanisms of circRNAs?

Answer
Exon‐derived circRNAs are predominantly generated through either of two mechanisms: the presence of introns containing long inverted repeats or the binding of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs). Both mechanisms result in the bringing together of the introns flanking the circRNA, facilitating the formation of the circular structure. The majority of circRNAs are located in the cytoplasm, where they can carry out their regulatory functions, such as acting as miRNA sponge.
