There are various similarities between active and passive transport. They both allow for the entry and exit of ions and molecules in a cell. Both allow for only specific substances to pass through the cell membrane. They also both play a role in the homeostatic regulation of cells since substances are moved in and out of the cell. Active and passive transport both require a concentration gradient of the substance in order for molecules to be transported. Lastly, both active and transport use ion channels for their processes.
