What are the similarities between Alpha and Beta Galactosidase?

Posted December 7, 2023

Answer

They are both types of galactosidases. Both of them are composed of amino acids. 398 amino acid residues in alpha glucosidase and 1023 amino acids in beta galactosidase. They are also glycoside hydrolases. The two enzymes catalyze the hydrolysis of glycosides into monosaccharide components. Additionally, they both play a role in biological processes such as breaking down sugars into smaller components for energy utilization.
