Beta galactosidase
is a tetrameric
enzyme
which catalyzes the hydrolysis of beta galactosides into monosaccharides. It hydrolyzes terminal beta d-galactose residues in beta D-galactosides. Lactose is beta galactosidase’s natural substrate.
