There are various similarities between histones and nucleosomes. Both are involved in DNA packaging. Another similarity is that histones and nucleosomes are fundamental components of chromatin. They are both also involved in genome stability. By compacting DNA into a condensed chromatin structure, they help protect DNA from damage and facilitate DNA replication and repair processes. Another similarity is that both histones and nucleosomes are found within the nucleus of eukaryotic cells.
