What are the similarities between RNA and mRNA?

Posted August 3, 2023

Answer

mRNA is a subtype of RNA. Both are single-stranded nucleic acids composed of RNA nucleotides. Both RNA and mRNA are synthesized by transcription of DNA in the genome, by the action of the enzyme RNA polymerase. RNA and mRNA are both present in the cytoplasm and both are involved in protein synthesis. The main function of both RNA and mRNA is to modulate transcription and translation.
