It can also be used for studying dissolved organic matter in drinking water, to predict water quality. Additionally, it has been used for measuring stress levels and physiological states in plants. In medicine, it is becoming a useful diagnostic tool for detecting pre-malignant and malignant lesions in the body. It is noninvasive and has already been successful in detecting cancers as it is a highly sensitive and specific technique.
