What do viruses and bacteria have in common?

Posted January 26, 2023

Answer

Viruses and bacteria have a number of characteristics in common. Both are microscopic. Although both vary in size, they are too small to be visible to the naked eye. Both carry genetic material and both lack membrane-bound organellesBoth germs, a term that refers to very tiny disease-causing organisms or microbes. After entering the body of the host human being, animal or plant, both affect various normal processes either directly or indirectly, resulting in some type of disease. They can both be spread by coughing, sneezing, close contact such as touching or kissing, touching contaminated surfaces, or consuming contaminated food or water.  Both viral and bacterial infections can be potentially treated with vaccines.
