What is a mutation?

Posted February 1, 2024

Answer

A mutation refers to a change in an organism’s DNA sequence. The DNA sequence in an organism gives its cells the information they require to perform their specific functions. In a mutation, a part of the DNA sequence may be incomplete, in the wrong place, or damaged. When this happens, the organism experiences symptoms of a genetic condition.
