Answer
Transport media is a specially formulated solution used to preserve the viability of specific pathogenic microorganisms present in the specimen while it is being transported from the collection site to the laboratory for microbial analysis. These media are composed of essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, peptones, and buffers that help preserve the viability of the specimen. However, they exclude growth factors in order to prevent the specimen from multiplying. This ensures that the sample remains as close as possible to its original state.
