  3. Different downstream analyses may require mitochondria with specific characteristics. 
  4. Purity refers to the degree to which isolated mitochondria are free from contamination. A high-purity isolation method is crucial for accurate and reliable experimental results. 
  5. Yield is the quantity of mitochondria obtained through the isolation process. 
  6. The nature of the starting material (e.g. tissue) influences the choice of isolation method. Some methods may be better suited for specific sample types, and one should consider type, size, and cell density.
