Where do mRNA modifications occur?

Posted July 22, 2022

Answer

Post-transcriptional modifications of pre-mRNA like capping, splicing, and polyadenylation occur in the nucleus. After this, mature mRNA molecules become translocated into the cytoplasm, where protein synthesis begins, and the final product of the protein can be created.
