What are the advantages of LDH release assay?

Posted March 21, 2024

Answer

There are several advantages of LDH release assay. One advantage is its reliability in detecting cellular damage, providing researchers with confidence in their results. Another advantage is its straightforward evaluation, as the amount of LDH released into the culture medium directly correlates with the extent of cell death or damage. A third advantage is the assay is relatively quick, allowing for rapid assessment of cell viability or cytotoxicity within a short period. Longitudinal measuring is another pro. By repeatedly measuring LDH release at multiple time points, researchers can track changes in cell viability or cytotoxicity in response to various treatments. Additionally, this assay is capable of detecting low level damage to cell membranes at rates which other methods might not be as efficient at.
