AAT Bioquest offers a comprehensive range of mounting media and sample preparation reagents designed to preserve fluorescence signal quality during microscopy imaging. The FluoroQuest™ line provides specialized antifade mounting solutions optimized for different applications, from standard slide imaging to TSA/PSA-amplified samples.
FluoroQuest™ Mounting Media
FluoroQuest™ mounting media are aqueous-based solutions specifically formulated for microscopy imaging, with optional inclusion of antifade and DAPI. Antifade additives protect fluorescent dyes from photobleaching during experiments. Photobleaching occurs when fluorophores undergo irreversible photodestruction upon exposure to excitation light, leading to progressive signal loss. The media with antifade contain proprietary stabilizers that reduce photobleaching by limiting photooxidation and other photochemical degradation pathways. Media with DAPI (a nuclear counterstain) can be used to simultaneously image DNA. RNA is also stained with DAPI.
In addition to standard mounting media offerings, complementary kits and reagents are available to preserve fluorescent signal, reduce background noise, and streamline sample preparation. FluoroQuest™ Anti-Fading Kits provide format-optimized antifade protection for slide and microplate imaging, while the Fluorescence Signal Enhancing Solution recovers lost intensity from dye-protein conjugates. XAF Black™ autofluorescence blockers quench lipofuscin-derived background fluorescence—common in aged or stressed tissues such as brain, heart, liver, and retina—without affecting target-specific fluorescent labels. ReadiUse™ fixation and mounting solutions offer pre-formulated, ready-to-use reagents for routine sample preparation.
Key Features
Format-optimized antifade kits – Separate formulations for slide (Kit I) and plate (Kit II) imaging ensure optimal performance for each application
Signal enhancement – Fluorescence Signal Enhancing Solution recovers lost intensity from dye-protein conjugates
Broad-spectrum autofluorescence quenching – XAF Black™ blockers reduce lipofuscin autofluorescence across multiple excitation wavelengths in FFPE, frozen, and fresh tissue sections without altering specific probe signals
Ready-to-use fixation and mounting – ReadiUse™ solutions require no dilution or preparation, ensuring consistent and reproducible results
