Is BrdU (Bromodeoxyuridine) radioactive?

Posted September 3, 2021

Answer

No, BrdU (Bromodeoxyuridine) is not radioactive at labeling concentrations. However, research suggests that it may have teratogenic, cytotoxic, and mutagenic properties and is potentially a health hazard for these reasons. When used, care must be taken to keep the exposure as low as reasonably achievable.
