Answer

Proteins play a significantly important role in many biological processes. They are very versatile and have many functions in the body.

  • Enzymes: Catalyze biochemical reactions.
  • Transport proteins: Carry substances in the blood or lymph throughout the body.
  • Structural proteins: Construct different structures, like the cytoskeleton.
  • Hormones: Coordinate the activity of different body systems.
  • Defensive proteins: Protect the body from foreign pathogens.
  • Contractile proteins: Affect muscle contraction.
  • Storage proteins: Provide nourishment in early development of the embryo and the seeding.
