What is a tumoroid?

Posted January 6, 2022

Answer

A tumoroid is a tumor-like organoid derived from primary tumors harvested from oncological patients. It can mimic the human tumor microenvironment. Tumoroids are typically clustered in 3D structures, totally grown in vitro. They can organize themselves into 3D organoids that resemble the primary tissue from where cells are harvested. Tumoroids are a promising tool for cost-effective studies on novel anticancer drugs to be used in precision medicine in the field of oncology.
